In this column, we share a few proud moments since our last issue.
- Nominated for the 2007 National Black MBA Association's Wells Fargo Bank Entrepreneurial Excellence Award.
- Gained two new partner relationships:
- Associated Spring, Barnes Industrial, Farmington, CT - one of the world's leading spring manufacturers where we supplied Cultural Keepsakes from our Wine Art Gallery for an international conference.
- Action for Bridgeport Community Development, Incorporated (ABCD, Inc.) - an organization serving over 35,000 individuals through anti-poverty programs for the greater Bridgeport, Connecticut community where we designed their 2007 Annual Report.
- Partnered with GENWORTH to design graphics for collateral materials celebrating the 4th Annual Employee Network Symposium. This is also marked our fourth year providing our graphic art services to GENWORTH. Thank you GENWORTH for selecting Picture That - we appreciate your business.
- Received favorable media review of "The Silk Road," our 2007 Asian Pacific Heritage Month Exhibit. Our special thanks to Abby Luby, Art Critic for The Advocate, for her in-depth analysis of our professional artists and student exhibitions. This exhibit -- as has been the case with other Picture That exhibits -- was well-attended by the local community because of publicity from Abby and our other media partners including The New York Times; Jonathan Rouguet, Arts and Weekend Editor for The Stamford Advocate; and Kathy Mochella of KAM Public Relations. Our final thanks go out to the sponsors of "The Silk Road" exhibition and reception,The Stamford Center for the Arts, The General Electric Company, and GE Tristate Asian Pacific American Forum (APAF). Your continued financial commitment to promote cultural inclusion through art is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

In this column, we highlight how our partners have incorporated Picture That solutions to promote cultural inclusion within their environments. In this issue, we bring you examples of how our partners leveraged our Graphic Art Services - just one of our four Consulting Practice Areas - to develop culturally-inclusive materials to help them achieve their objectives.
Here are few examples of projects we recently delivered through our Graphic Art Practice:
As you consider various firm's to advise you in developing your communications and marketing materials, you might find that all share a common methodology for reaching creative solutions and that each firm’s capabilities are, at a glance, similar. So what sets Picture That apart from the rest and why should you consider us your Graphic Art Firm of Choice?
No other firm can match our experience in working with and understanding the broad and diverse interworkings that makes up communities and environments. Each Picture That team member selected to work on your branding project has extensive experience creating artistic communications geared toward human resources, diversity and cultural competency. This is the niche that we own in the marketplace; we design around people and the infinite number of ways they live and interact. Our team has extensive branding experience for all age groups and their surrounding infrastructures as we have created projects for corporations, children’s libraries, K-12 school systems, colleges, universities and religious institutions.
In the coming months, we look forward to sharing more about the unique ways art is being used to enhance the environments of our clients and our awareness of each other.

Relevant Readings for Collectors
By request, we are pleased to add this section of recommended readings for our members.
"Colored Frames" A DVD by Lerone D. Wilson. A look back at the last fifty years in African American art, Colored Frames is an unflinching exploration of influences, inspirations and experiences of Black artists. Beginning at the height of the Civil Rights Era and leading up to the present, it is a naked and truthful look at this often ignored group of artists and their progenies.
We highly recommend Richard Illing's, "The Art of Japanese Prints," New York, Gallery Books, 1983. As w e recently undertook a project that focused on Japanese prints, we felt that the subject matter was so interesting that we wanted to share some of our research materials with you. The 176-page book includes a glossary, bibliography, index, 70 color and 122 black and white illustrations and the following Appendices: Collecting, Examples of Signatures, Date and Censor Seals. This book will be particularly useful to collectors as it has a full list of signatures that makes it possible to identify the artist of almost any print. And the author, a notable collector himself, gives helpful suggestions to those people who are just starting to build up a collection. To view an extensive collection of Japanese Prints, and interact with a subject expert, contact Katherine Martin, Director of Scholten Japanese Art, 145 West 58th Street, Suite 2H, NY, NY www.scholten-japanese-art.com
