ALT Wraps Up Two Successful
Summer Events!
This summer the Aquidneck Land
Trust ("ALT") held two of its classic summer events - the Golf
Tournament, running in its 11th year, and the much anticipated Fiesta
Verde, held this year at the Chastellux property in Newport, RI. Both Events met great success and we are grateful to all those who
came to support us in various ways throughout the two events.

The 11th Annual ALT Golf Tournament was held on Monday, July 9th at
Newport National Golf Course in Middletown, RI - an ALT Conserved
property. This year's tournament was chaired by Nancy Cushing,
Jeff Dieffenbach, David and Christy Elwell, David and Ann Ford, Kim
Herrlinger, Nannette Herrick and Jim Richardson. We were again
joined by the Eagle Hill School, our lead sponsor for the event. Golfers competed for long drives, closest to the pin, women's, mixed,
and overall winner categories throughout the day! The overall
winners for the day were Arthur Chapman, John Finn, Ben Fernandez and
Pat LeBeau.

We also had our 6th Annual Aquidneck Land Trust High School Cup
Tournament where, in an effort to support and inspire talented local
athletes, ALT has invited the top two players from four local high
schools to compete at our annual tournament. These teams consisted of the
top golfers from the Rogers, Middletown, Portsmouth and Tiverton high
schools. The winner of the High School Cup was Phil Caron of
Middletown High School.

Fiesta Verde this year was held at
the scenic property, Chastellux, under the kind auspices of the
Spencer family, across from ALT conserved King Park in Newport, RI. King Park is a public recreation area visited and utilized by many
residents and visitors throughout the year. The event was
chaired by the dynamic mother and daughter team of Annie Sherman Luke
and Jocelyn Sherman, with our honorary chairs Kathy Irving and her
daughter Liz Woodard helping to expand ALT's events to the next
generation! Guests joined us for a Midsummer Night's Dream
theme while dining and dancing the night away. ALT raised
critical funds through ticket sales, silent auction and a raffle -
which was won by Patricia O'Connell of Newport.

A beautiful evening was had by all
and we are grateful for all of our attendees, in-kind donors and
auction donors who make this event possible and successful each year!

The tournament and
Fiesta Verde generated crucial funds for ALT to move forward with
it's mission of conserving open space on Aquidneck Island - many
thanks to all who joined us and helped!
As we wrap up our summer events we
are also wrapping up our Annual Appeal for the 2012-2013 fiscal year. We are just in sight of our goal, so if you would like to donate to
help us reach it, you can click HERE to make a donation under the heading Annual Appeal. Your gift is
tax deductible.
We also look forward to our fall event - the much anticipated 7th
Annual Race for Open Space 5K Run/Walk to be held on Saturday,
November 2nd! This event gathers hundreds of ALT supports and
friends alike to join us for one of the only trail races in Rhode
Island. The race will be chaired this year by Linda Ujifusa and
Julia Coll. You can register for this year's race by clicking HERE! We hope to see you
there!
